3月20日　マカロンデー

明日、3月20日はマカロンデーです。

『マカロンデー』(仏語では“Jour du Macaron”)とは何かと申しますと、難病に苦しむ子どもたちのための寄付金集めを主たる目的として、マカロンの本場フランスで1995年から始まったチャリティーイベントです。
もともとはフランスの有名パティシエ、ピエール・エルメが 自身のブティックでささやかな形で始めた活動でしたが、現在では、ルレ・デセール（※1）会員の多数が参加する大々的なチャリティーイベントになっています。

わたしは2年前にパリのピエール・エルメのお店に行った日がたまたま3月20日でこのイベントのことを知りました。

開催日はフランスでは春の気配が強まる3月20日で、ここバンクーバーでも去年からフランスと同日の3月20日にこの活動を開催するお店が出てきました。
（ちなみに日本では本格的な夏の訪れを告げる夏至の日がマカロンデーに定められたようです。）
※1 ルレ・デセールとは…1981年に設立された国際的な洋菓子職人協会。現在、フレデリック・カッセルが会長、フレデリック・ジュヴォーとピエール・エルメが副会長を務め、全世界に約80名の会員（うち日本メンバー4名）を擁している。

Everyone who mentions Macaron Day in the store will receive a macaron and will be invited to make a donation to BC Children’s Hospital Foundation (while supplies last, suggested donation: $2). Part of all macarons sales will be donated to the Foundation as well.

In the spirit of Macaron Day, Soirette is proud to be supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation BC & Yukon.
On Wednesday 20 March 2013, we will be giving away upto 1000 macarons in exchange for a donation ($2 suggestion) towards this deserving charity! Help us spread the word and raise as much as we can!
Soirette will be donating a further 10% of our sales that day to help make a child's wish come true.

On March 20th, Chef Thierry will be offering a limited edition spring-inspired “Cherry Blossom” macaron featuring a honey bush tea shell, honey butter cream and Chef Thierry’s signature cherry jam in the centre.
Known for their fine artisanal ingredients, a selection of Chef Thierry’s famous macarons will also be available in various flavours, including house favourites such as Chocolate, Pink Praline, Lime and Salted Caramel, to name a few.
“We want to celebrate both the delight of this simple pleasure, and show our support for a great cause,” says Chef Thierry. “We invite all of our friends to drop by the shop and join in the fête.”
10% of all macaron proceeds on this day will be donated towards the St-Paul’s Hospital Foundation.
